Q. as a college student, how many times a week do you exercise?

A. Most health professionals recommend that everyone exercises for 30 minutes or more, three to four times per week. If you are eating more than you usually do and are worried about gaining weight, you may want to exercise more frequently.

Q. Hi, I am applying to a college for the spring season 2006. I have already taken my SAT`s back in May. However, they were not satisfactory for me and I am planning on retaking the test (with college board) this October. I wanted to know if you would recommend me sending my application in before I take the SAT again or would sending my application first (without SAT scores) be okay? If you could please provide me with some information concerning this. That would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much

Q. What college is best to become a pediatrician?
A. Click for the Answer

Q.
Hi, My name is Tamara. And I just had a brief question regarding homeschooling. I sent an application for admission back in 2004 to a college that is called "homeschooler friendly." My admissions counselor and I became pretty good friends and I also spoke on a regular basis to one of the previous students that attend this college. Yesterday my application was completed and I was called and told that I was not accepted. My admissions counselor (before I received their decision) made it sound like I was already accepted into their college. They told me that they loved my essay, they liked that I was previously in the Miss USA pageant, and they told me that they were looking for someone like me. I`m very studious and education is #1 for me, and they know that. They had me send my personal financial information/income to them, they had me sign scholarship forms, etc. I feel discriminated against because I am a former homeschooler. My admissions counselor contacted my mom a week ago regarding my transcript (which my mom did herself) to verify some things. After receiving the verification she appeared as if everything was okay and looking good for me. She said that she received my SAT`s, however, I haven`t received them yet myself so I can`t be sure that my admissions counselor received them either. College board told me that my SAT`s wouldn`t be sent out until June 3rd. I asked her by email what my scores looked like and I haven`t received a reply.

Most colleges, I have learned, are very hard on homeshoolers. However, this college was listed as "homeschooler friendly" at petersons.com and collegeboard.com as well. I was even talking with a former homschooler that attended that college and graduated. I don`t understand what happened necessarily and I feel that I was not treated fairly or taken seriously because of my previous education. I proved that I am capable of attending a college to study my intended major (psychology), and I feel that they overlooked that and just saw me as a "homeschooler." I had good recommendations, evaluation papers, former evaluators talk to them, etc. My admissions counselor told me yesterday that they didn`t feel that I could handle the work that they give. And I don`t think that`s a fair judgment, I feel they judged me solely upon either my SAT scores or homeschooed education.

What do you think of this? Do you think that I should go around my admissions counselor and speak with someone who can possibly look further into this? Or am I perhaps being discriminated against?

If you could please provide me with some information concerning this. That would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much
Sincerely,
Tamara

Q. Hi, I just had a brief question. I am going to attend college this fall to pursue a degree in psychology. I was beginning to feel stressed with all the financial preparations, books, laptop costs, etc. This website has helped me to feel more comfortable about it all, that`s for sure. This is absolutely a resourceful webpage for former homeschoolers.

Basically I just wanted to know if you knew of an organization/foundation that might help aspiring students with college costs who have parents who are disabled or on disability? My mom is on disability and she`s a single parent also. We are solely leaning towards scholarships, federal and plus loans, and hopefully a few family members that might be willing to pitch in. When you`re a former homeschooler it`s a little hard to find scholarships that suits you. If you could please provide me with some information concerning this. That would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much
Sincerely,
Tamara

Q. Hi. I am having some trouble deciding which college to attend. I plan on majoring in nursing in college and I have recently been accepted to the Rutgers University College of Nursing (my state school) and the University of Pennsylvania College of Nursing. Rutgers is about $5,000 cheaper because it is a state school. Does the college I attain my nursing degree from make a big difference in the opportunities I will have in the future? After all, UPENN is an ivy league and is a renowned nursing school. I`m just not sure whether it is worth the money if a nursing degree remains a nursing degree regardless of where it comes from.
